These optional sightseeing stops combine traditional Algarve towns, panoramic coastal scenery and some of Andalusia’s most interesting historic cities.
You can travel directly to Málaga or choose one or more destinations according to your interests, available time and preferred pace.
Tavira — Historic Eastern Algarve

The town combines traditional Portuguese architecture, churches, cobbled streets, historic bridges and a picturesque setting along the Gilão River.
Its relaxed atmosphere and well-preserved centre make Tavira particularly suitable for travellers interested in culture, photography and traditional Algarve towns.

Cacela Velha — Panoramic Views over the Ria Formosa
Discover Cacela Velha, a small whitewashed village overlooking the eastern section of the Ria Formosa.
Its elevated position offers panoramic views across the lagoon, sandbanks and Atlantic coastline, while the compact historic centre retains a peaceful and traditional atmosphere.
Cacela Velha is particularly suitable for a shorter scenic stop, photography or a relaxed walk.

Seville — Monumental Andalusia

Which stops can be combined?
Carvoeiro to Málaga is already a substantial international journey, so for most travellers we recommend selecting one to three sightseeing stops.
Some particularly strong combinations include:
- Tavira only for traditional Algarve culture and historic streets.
- Cacela Velha only for a shorter scenic stop overlooking the Ria Formosa.
- Seville only for one of southern Spain’s strongest cultural experiences.
- Carmona only for a traditional Andalusian town with strong archaeological heritage.
- Antequera only for history, architecture and inland Andalusia.
- Tavira + Cacela Velha for an excellent eastern Algarve sightseeing combination.
- Seville + Carmona for monumental Andalusia followed by a smaller historic hilltop town.
- Carmona + Antequera for two very different inland Andalusian destinations.
- Seville + Antequera for two of the strongest cultural stops on the journey.
- Tavira + Seville for Portuguese and Spanish culture within the same journey.
- Cacela Velha + Seville + Antequera for scenery followed by two major Andalusian experiences.
- Seville + Carmona + Antequera for a comprehensive historical journey through Andalusia.
Can we visit all five sightseeing destinations?
Yes.
Tavira, Cacela Velha, Seville, Carmona and Antequera can all be incorporated into a customised journey.
However, including all five would transform the transfer into a very long full-day private sightseeing journey rather than a standard Carvoeiro–Málaga transfer.
Seville alone can easily justify several hours of sightseeing.
For most travellers, choosing one to three stops provides a much more comfortable balance between sightseeing and travel time.
Can we visit Ronda or Setenil de las Bodegas instead?
Yes.
Ronda and Setenil de las Bodegas can be incorporated into a customised itinerary.
However, these destinations require a more significant deviation from the fastest Carvoeiro–Málaga corridor.
They are therefore better treated as an alternative scenic itinerary rather than standard sightseeing stops.
Contact us before booking if you would like to travel through Ronda or Setenil so that the route and price can be adapted accordingly.
